CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWEST, CLUB CHAMPION – MATCH PLAY  CLUB CHAMPION  CHRIS BRANDT.

Today, 12 August 2025, Chris Brandt and Richard McGaffigan went head to head in the Finals of the 2025 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP – MATCH PLAY.

It was a truly epic Match as the wins and losses on each hole came due to LONG made putts , rimmed out putts and precise strategic approach shots. 

On the 18th Tee the Match was tied.  Both players had approach shots within 150 yards, to the Blue Flagstick. A Blue Flagstick on #18 is unquestionably the most difficult pin placement possible on that green given the back to front slope of the green. Staying below the hole on your approach is critical.  When the final putt dropped it was Chris Brandt who stood victorious in a very well contested Match.  Chris’ name will forever be on the Club Champion-  Match Play plaque where he joins the names of other Men’s Club Champions who are displayed on the plaque in the Trophy Case.

That concludes the Match Play Club Championship until 2026.  A WELL DONE TO JOSH NEIL FOR SETTING UP THE BRACKETS AND ED ROSENBLOOM FOR RUNNING THIS EVENT.

Now it is time for the Final Results and the Prize Payouts.  Here is how the Prizes were decided:

1. Total amount in the Prize Purse $1500

2. A player who won his first Match stayed in the “Upper Bracket” until he lost a Match ; then he went to the Lower Bracket.

3. A player had to win TWO Matches to “Qualify” for the “Prize Purse Payout.”  Each win after that, in either bracket, gave him an additional  $50 in his personal purse.

4. For the Finals, the Club Champion wins $400 and the Runner-Up gets $300.

Here are the FINAL awards, based on the number of Matches they have won.(Remember, winning 3 matches total  wins $50, 4 wins $100, 5 wins $150.)
