Members – Pat Weishan; The Captain of the Admiral Baker Golf Team is now accepting requests from all members to compete in the 2026 Southern California Military Golf League as a member of the Admiral Baker Golf Team. Here are the details:
- The season runs from April to Sept. Each team play the other teams at their Home course and Away at the others team’s course.
- The teams are: Admiral Baker Men’s Club; Miramar Men’s Club; Sea n’ Air Men’s Club; and the Camp Pendleton Men’s Association.
- Each team plays the other teams in two 18 hole matches, under USGA Match Play Rules, Rule 23.
- Each Match consists of 12, 14 or 16 players on each team. The numbers of players for each team are decided by the team Captains the week before the scheduled Match.
- The Matches will be held during the week, but not on any Tuesday; allowing Admiral Baker Men’s Club members to play in the weekly Blitz. Likewise, the Matches will not conflict with the weekly Men’s club tournaments of Miramar, Sea n’ Air, or Camp Pendleton.
- The format for each Match is a “Four Ball” match with a “Best Ball” match in each foursome for 18 holes with 2 points going to each individual match and 2 points for the Best Ball match, for a total of 6 points available per foursome. Rule 23 (page 192) of the USGA Rule Book describes “Four Ball Matches” more thoroughly. The team that wins the majority of the 48 points being contested in each Match wins that day’s Match. If a day’s Match has less than 16 players per team (12, or 14) the teams will split the non-contested points equally.
- When all teams have played their 6 MATCHES the team with the best record wins the League Championship.
- Usually each team plays two Matches a month, at Home and Away against one of the other teams.
- Admiral Baker Men’s Club Golf Team has won the League Championship 13 of the last 16 years!!!
- ALL Regular Members of Admiral Baker Men’s Club is eligible to play on the Admiral Baker Golf Team. You do NOT have to be a military veteran to play on the Admiral Baker Golf Team.
More details will be revealed when the schedule of Matches is firmed. A member DOES NOT have to play in every Match. You can play in one Match or as many as you like and are available.
